CHAYA BRASSERIE RESTAURANT

The Chaya Brasserie Restaurant was designed as a hybrid interpretation of the Franco-Japanaise cuisine it made famous. La Coupole in Paris was a primary point of reference together with the use of pine in the style of a traditional Japanese tea house. An exposed wood bowstring truss ceiling together with a unique bamboo garden in the center was offset by a series of striking suspended lanterns originally designed by Fortuny. The polished concrete bar was one of the first in LA and became a popular watering hole for notables in the music and movie industries.
