FRIEDLAND RESIDENCE

This project was a quick sketch for a couple wanting to build a home for their retirement in Jupiter, Florida. The site was located on a waterway actively used by boaters. Since the clients were empty nesters, the house was primarily intended for them to have easy open access to the outdoors and to be able to entertain their friends. The house was conceived as a boat with different deck areas that could be partially or totally opened to the outside. Although the house presented a very private face towards the street, as soon as one entered, it would open up to a garden with lap pool and ample areas for outdoor entertaining.
