LOMA VISTA RESIDENCE

The design for this 10,000 sq.ft. residence maximizes a site with panoramic views overlooking the city of Los Angeles. Created for a young couple in the entertainment business, this house provides a series of spaces which support both the individual needs of the owners as well as their desire for a place that could accommodate a wide range of ongoing social events. Elliptical geometries are overlaid on top of an axial scheme that links the entry sequence to the expansive vistas of the back yard. Although local building codes prohibited structures over 18’ high, a complex sectional strategy was developed to intensify spaces with ceilings, clerestory windows, skylights and curvilinear soffits.
