GEMINI G.E.L.

This is a modest addition to the art storage facility of Gemini G.E.L., originally designed by Frank Gehry for the world famous LA lithography studio. Having collaborated for many years with such acclaimed artists as Rauschenberg, Johns, Hockney, Serra and Stella, Gemini G.E.L. was running out of space to store its unique creations. But rather than just designing a generic box, we suggested integrating the company’s distinctive logo, known throughout the art world, as part of the architecture. Although passersby may have no idea what this strange symbol is doing in the middle of Melrose Avenue, it is nonetheless an example of where art and architecture come together.
